Artist Statement
My work serves as a demonstration of the user experience design process. Being a double major in art and design as well as computer science, I have always been intrigued by the intersection of art and technology, particularly user experience design. Almost everything we interact with in our daily lives has been thoughtfully designed, but non-designers may not realize the work that goes into it. Through this work, I aim to reveal to the audience the organized process that drives design and the extensive efforts that occur behind the scenes of creation. For this work I collaborated with Sacred Heart Mercy Health Care Center, an Alma College community partner, to develop possible solutions for a problem that arose through my research. Following a design thinking process that involves Sense, Understand, Frame, Ideate, and Iterate, I created a prototype for a community application tailored to healthcare organizations. This application enables them to establish connections, collaborate, and foster meaningful relationships.
